Topic:
The Metronet Case Study
The METRONET is a robust initiative by the State Government of Western Australia designed to improve transport connectivity within Perth and its surrounding suburbs. This program is made up of approximately 72 Kilometres of rail together with 23 new stations and seeks to transform the landscape around the stations into desirable living spaces, improve business connectivity and greater access to jobs, deliver infrastructure that promotes easy and accessible travel as well planning for the exponential futuristic growth of Perth.
In this session, Ashley Vincent takes us through an overview of the METRONET program of works, detailing the status of each project and how they are transforming Perth’s urban rail network while Dave Thomas will provide a detailed insight into key aspects of project management for the METRONET Forrestfield-Airport Link – highlighting the challenges associated with construction and tunnelling and the solutions to these challenges. As the longest tunnelling project ever undertaken in Perth, there were challenges not seen on other infrastructure projects, and solutions that were firsts for WA and Australia.
