Murdoch University Campus Tour - B360

Join us for a walkthrough of Murdoch University's Boola Katitjin (‘lots of learning’ in Whadjuk Noongar), one of Australia's most ambitious sustainable education buildings.

Starting at the Welcome Space and travelling through all four levels, the tour traces how sustainability is woven through every aspect of the building. We'll get up close to Western Australia's largest Mass Engineered Timber structure and discuss the integrated solar, passive ventilation, rainwater harvesting, and responsive native landscaping that settles the building into Murdoch University's bushland campus.

Along the way we'll explore the building's Connection to Country and what it means to design a space that genuinely reflects the land it stands on, which has been a place of learning for tens of thousands of years.

Harry Butler Science Centre
Located on Murdoch University’s South Street campus in Perth, the Harry Butler Science Centre will be a new research and teaching facility designed to support science education, research and community engagement. Designed by Woods Bagot, and Aurecon, the purpose‑built facility will bring together researchers, educators, industry partners and the wider community, with a strong focus on inspiring school students to explore environmental science.
The New Build project includes an approximately 800m² single‑level building supported by around 1,600m² of landscaped outdoor learning and gathering spaces.
Positioned on a greenfield site adjacent to the Beeliar Wetlands on Whadjuk Noongar Country, the project requires careful planning and coordination to respect the surrounding environment and its cultural significance. The building is named after Harry Butler AO CBE, a renowned Australian conservationist and educator whose work helped Australians better understand the relationship between people, development and the natural environment.
