Speaker: Dr Todd Hutchison

Topic:  Process Guides Behaviour – Making Project Governance Work

Governance is about setting and guiding behaviour towards a culture that facilitates project success.  It  is not about enforcing compliance, rather to establish a framework that enables constructive behaviour that aims to assure a structure for performance. This session provides a perspective on portfolio, program and project management through encapsulating the key guiding principles, and the systems, functions and processes that enables executive level engagement and support, whilst building a positive, informed and supported approach to team development and leadership.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Appreciate the key principles in human behaviour that gets results;
  • Explore the reasons why projects fail despite having governance frameworks;
  • Recognise the governance function from a behavioural perspective;
  • Recognise the key governance roles from executive leadership to project auditing;
  • Understand the physical systems, functions and tools that comprise governance;
  • Consider the PMO functions and the initiatives that influence engagement; and
  • Explore how to gain and retain executive support.

Governance works well when it is established to support and guide the engagement and influence of team members that lead to greater workplace results.  It avoids an enforcement approach, with an educational and support experiences that are guided by robust processes.

This is an in-person event.
